ON 16th October, The Wellington Company joined esteemed individual honourees of the 2024 Wellington Address (Adrian Orr, Doug Hauraki, and Brian McGuiness), receiving the 2degrees Excellence in Business Award for our work on the restoration of Erskine Chapel.
The event recognises the mahi and relentless energy of those who have made outstanding contributions to our city. These are people who inspire others and embody the spirit of service, helping Wellington business and its community thrive. The Wellington Address is a symbol that we are stronger together than we are apart, via the unique and historic partnership between the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, Te Awe Wellington Māori Business Network and the Wellington Pasifika Business Network – together known as the Power of Three.
It was a very special evening, with each of the individual honourees providing inspirational personal reflections on their respective careers and passions. In addition, we were treated to a deeply thought-provoking, yet humorous keynote from John-Daniel Trask of Raygun. His fascinating journey from start-up to now processing over 2.5 billion monthly errors for top global brands, including Domino's Pizza, Electrolux, Virgin Atlantic, and iFit exemplifies Wellington’s innovative spirit. And funny how life connects - turns out that back in the day John-Daniel helped a flatmate lay the IT cabling for our previous office. What rang loud and clear in conversations and speeches alike, was the deep love for our innovative capital, the belief that things will indeed get better, and most importantly - the collective drive to ‘knuckle down, and make things happen’.
Our sincere thanks to The Power Of Three, Principal Partner 2degrees and supporting sponsors Mercury Information Technology and Poneke Bakery, congratulations on all on such a wonderful event.
